The Bar

Small but mighty is our bar here at Mount Edgcumbe. If you are a lover of gins we usually have at least six for you to choose from, (we do love gin!), including some great local choices, and a wide range of Fever Tree mixers. For the designated drivers and your small ones we have a great variety of soft drinks including classics such as ginger beer, and some additive free options like Frobisher’s Fusions. Peruse our wine list to find something you will love, we choose our wines carefully to suit ranging tastes and prices, and our team are happy to help you choose something that will compliment your meal.

Many of our patrons are connoisseurs of real ales, if that’s you too then we recommend that you get to the Mount Edgcumbe as soon as you can to try our local guest ale. We source our guest beers from local breweries all over the Kent & Sussex area, many of them are brewed using hops grown nearby. Our Bar Management take extra care with our ales, so that you are always served a great tasting pint! Never fear if you are a traditional – Harvey’s Best Bitter is a permanent member of our beer family!

The Cave

Our unique and remarkable Sandstone Cave is thought to date back to 6th Century times, and the sandstone is typical of that found in the old quarries of Tunbridge Wells and surroundings areas.

We suspect that it is was hand-chiselled some time before the 1600’s and lived in by real cave dwellers who built themselves a door way for access to the space. Moving on one hundred years or so – the Mount Edgcumbe as we know it today was built around the cave, and today it forms a cosy snug area, perfect for a drink with friends.

If topics such as these fascinate you, you will certainly have a splendid time staying with us – be sure to visit the stunning buildings in Tunbridge Wells town, courtesy of the famous architect Decimus Burton.

The Garden

The garden, (our main attraction in the Summer), lays claim to uplifting views of the leafy Tunbridge Wells Common and surrounding sandstone rocks. The garden itself is expansive and fully equipped with tables and chairs in a lovely heated marquee for al fresco dining, as well as picnic benches to relax on with a refreshing cold beer. Our space is maintained all year round, making sure that there is always something bright and beautiful for you to feast your eyes upon.

Private Dining and Celebrations

If you are hosting a private celebration with us, we regret that we cannot book outside space for your sit-down meal due to the unpredictable weather! However, if the sun is shining on the day of your event and if we have space, you are of course welcome to take your food and drink outside to enjoy in the warm weather!
