Restaurant

Our restaurant operates over two floors, both floors offering an informal, cosy and interesting place to dine. If you are early to book then you may be fortunate enough to enjoy one of our popular window seats which offer uplifting views of our pretty garden and some of the sandstone rocks that are found in our local area. Over the years we have hosted an array of dining experiences, ranging from family gatherings and brief working lunches to old friends uniting and special birthdays. Our service is highly regarded by our visitors who we invite to feel at home here at the Mount Edgcumbe.

Our menus

All of our menus feature locally sourced produce wherever possible, and we are certain that you’ll be able to taste the quality. Our meat is from Norsted Manor Farm in Orpington, our seafood is sourced from South Coast Fish, and fruit and vegetables from Entremmetier in Covent Garden. Dishes range seasonally from fresh, lively Summer plates to wholesome, comfort food in the Winter. We are also very careful to cater for all dietary requirements with usually two vegetarian options and even a gluten-free sticky toffee pudding!

Or perhaps you crave a classic dish such as our Harvey’s Beer Battered Haddock with Hand-cut Chips and Mushy Peas? Hungry yet…?

The Cave

Our unique and remarkable Sandstone Cave is thought to date back to 6th Century times, and the sandstone is typical of that found in the old quarries of Tunbridge Wells and surroundings areas. We suspect that it is was hand-chiselled some time before the 1600’s and lived in by real cave dwellers who built themselves a door way for access to the space. Moving on one hundred years or so – the Mount Edgcumbe as we know it today was built around the cave, and today it sits proudly and snug in our bar area, waiting to be admired and discovered by you. If topics such as these fascinate you, you will certainly have a splendid time staying with us – be sure to visit the stunning buildings in Tunbridge Wells town, courtesy of the famous architect Decimus Burton.
